Directions on How to Commute to McKinley Hills Fort Bonifacio?

Lately, my team was moved to our office's new site in McKinley Hills. As a result, I had to learn how to commute there by not taking a taxi because that option is very expensive for everyday commuting.

I know that there are a lot of other companies who are also starting to move in to the McKinley Hills neighborhood, so I hope this entry would really be able to help commuters like me.

I learned that there are actually a lot of ways to go there and here is the consolidated information on how to do just that.

The information I am about to give are actually from a very well-organized initiative within our department in helping us move-in smoothly, as well as from some of my colleagues at work who have found out other ways to commute.

  1. City Link Coach Services, Inc.

    Description:

This is the most comfortable way to commute if you're able to catch the scheduled trip.

This is a business class bus (early mornings) or FX shuttle (for later schedules).

    Terminal:

San Lorenzo Show Room just beside MRT Magallanes Station (South-bound to Taft)

    Schedule:

    6:00 AM - 1:30 PM (15 to 30 min. ride intervals).

    NOTE:

They really do leave on time, so if you're late or if the ride is already full, you will have to wait for the next ride. In the early morning (the intervals are by 15 mins). 1:30 PM ride is the last trip to McKinley from the terminal.

    Trip Duration to McKinley:

15-30 mins from terminal (depending on the traffic)

    Drop-off:

Riders will be dropped of in the bus unloading areas right in front of either One-World Square and Two-World Square (the shed in front of the McKinley Hill Information Center near the Chinese International School Manila).

    Return trips to Ayala/Magallanes:

Terminal for return trips is the same area as the Two-World Square drop-off location from 5:00 PM to 7:30PM

    Fare:

    • Php12 for bus trip to McKinley and return-trips.
    • OR Php15 for FX ride.

    Contact Information:

    666-4365 or 798-0135

  2. Jeepney via Guadalupe

    Description:

A jeepney ride is available almost any time of the day, but this is also the most time-consuming way to commute.

Public Jeepney going to Gate-3 but passes by Market Market and McKinley Hills.

    Terminal:

Walking distance of 5 mins from Guadalupe MRT Station (North-Bound to Monumento). This is just beside Jollibee.

    Schedule:

Mondays to Sundays 4AM to 11PM

    Trip Duration:

30 - 45 mins from Guadalupe (depending on the traffic)

    Drop-off:

Riders should get-off the jeep upon arriving at McKinley Hills.

    Note:

Upon drop-off, you would still need to walk some distance to your destination (One-World Square, Two-World Square, etc.)

    Return trips to Guadalupe MRT/Tulay:

Terminal for return trips is the same area as drop-off location.

    Fare:

    • Php12 for a trip to McKinley and return-trips
    • OR Php7 minimum fare to Market Market.

  3. Fort Bus + Jeepney

    Description:

The Fort Bus terminal is just a walking distance from Ayala MRT Station. It directly goes to Market Market, Fort Bonifacio.

However, the trick here is to get off at McKinley Parkway Street (before arriving at Market Market) then ride the same Gate-3 Jeepney as that discussed above, so that you will not need to go through the lengthy Guadalupe Jeep ride. The Gate-3 jeepneys going through here are those that have already gone through the Market Market stop-over.

    Terminal of Fort Bus:

Walking distance of 5 mins from Ayala MRT Station.

    Schedule:

    > Fort Bus:

Not that sure of the exact schedule of the Fort Bus, but it is from Mondays to Sundays, morning to night time.

    > Jeepney:

    Almost 24/7 as discussed above.

    Trip Duration:

    > Fort Bus: 5 to 15 mins from Ayala bus terminal to Market (depending on the traffic)

    > Jeepney: 15 to 20 mins from McKinley Parkway to McKinley Hills (depending on traffic)

    Drop-off:

Riders should get-off the jeepney upon arriving at McKinley Hills.

    Note:

Upon drop-off, you would still need to walk some distance to your destination (One-World Square, Two-World Square, etc.)

Return trips to Guadalupe MRT/Tulay or Market Market:

Terminal for return trips is the same area as drop-off location.

    Fare:

    Fort Bus:

Php11 for a trip to Market Market and return-trips

    Jeepney:

    • Php12 for a trip to McKinley and return-trips
    • OR Php7 minimum fare to Market Market.

  4. Fort Bus + Private Motorcycle Ride

    Description:

The Fort Bus terminal is just a walking distance from Ayala MRT Station. It directly goes to Market Market, Fort Bonifacio.

However, the trick here is that after getting-off at Market Market then you may opt to ride a private motorcycle service (with someone driving for you of course). This motorcycle service is called "Habal Habal".

This is for those who are not afraid to ride a motorcycle.

    Terminal of Fort Bus:

Walking distance of 5 mins from Ayala MRT Station.

    Schedule:

    > Fort Bus:

Not that sure of the exact schedule of the Fort Bus, but it is from Mondays to Sundays, morning to night time.

    > Motorcyle:

Unsure of the exact schedule because I honestly haven't tried this one, but my colleague does opt for this at times.

However, according to my friend who lives near there, this is always available, Mondays to Sundays.

    Trip Duration:

    > Fort Bus: 5 to 15 mins from Ayala bus terminal to Market (depending on the traffic)

    > Motorcycle: estimated 15 mins from Market Market to McKinley Hills (depending on traffic)

    Drop-off:

Since this is like a private taxi ride, you can get off right in front of your building destination.

    Return trips:

Any of those stated in the previous options above.

    Fare:

    Fort Bus:

Php11 for a trip to Market Market and return-trips

    Motorcycle:

    • Estimated Php30 for a trip to McKinley. (word-of-mouth)

  5. Taxi or Cab

    Description:

Of course as a last resort, you can always take a taxi/cab.

For safety and security purposes, it is best to call the taxi company to pick you up and take you to your destination.

Calling for a cab, ensures you and your loved ones that the taxi you are riding is being monitored.

Please don't forget to take note of the plate number and body number, and ask someone (a friend or a family member) to take note of it as well.

Directions to tell the Taxi Driver:

    > From Edsa-Ayala, drive along McKinley Road & turn right at the McKinley Parkway corner Fifth Avenue. Go straight from there & turn left just before the AFP Headquarters.

    > From C5 southbound, drive past Market-Market signs but stay on the right. There's a direct entrance to McKinley Hill immediately after the Petron Gas station.

    Taxi Contact Information:

These are two taxi companies that I like because of their reliable and quality service, and they don't charge you extra for pick-ups.

    > MGE: 3636096, 3648260, 3636096

    > RE: 621890

So far, these are all the information I have. However, I think that there are still some other options which I still don't know about and which haven't tried out yet.

If you know any other options/ways on how to commute to McKinley, please feel free to share and contribute!

Hope this information would really help all you McKinley commuters out there! Take Care and God bless!

Dinner at Rai Rai Ken (Village Square Branch)

Last Sunday, I had dinner with my boyfriend and some friends at Rai Rai Ken right after the 5pm service in our church. We were craving for Japanese food and it had been a while since I have eaten at Rai Rai Ken so we thought of going there for the night. It was only walking distance and we’re pretty lucky that there were so many free seats. After scrutinizing the menu, my boyfriend and I decided to have the following for a very filling Japanese dinner.

SNC01331

Kani Salad (Php120)
Yummy appetizer! Good for two!

I love Japanese Salad (well all that I have tried so far). My top two favorites are “Kani Salad” of Rai Rai Ken (Teriyaki Boy’s version is also okay) and “Sakura Salad” of Sakura Restaurant (will blog about that in the near future).

SNC01328

Chicken Teriyaki Don (Php170) rice inclusive

We also had “Chicken Teriyaki Don” instead of the separate order of “Gohan” (plain rice Php25) and a separate “Chicken Teriyaki” dish which I think costs around P190 (of the same size/serving of Chicken Teriyaki Don according to the waiter, but just without the rice but it has side veggies).

So just a tip: The “Chicken Teriyaki Don” is a much practical choice. AND if you’re sharing it for two, you just need to order one extra rice instead of two! That’s a saving of around Php45!

SNC01336

Jurassic Maki (approx.Php260) 6pcs.

Lastly, we also had a plate of “Jurassic Maki” (imagine you’re eating dinosaur meat). Seems like it’s new (not in the current Rai Rai Ken website menu) and I was really looking for some sort of Tempura (Shrimp) Maki so this one was the closest! It has tempura, and eel. It was pretty good and filling! This one can be a meal by itself or can be shared also among friends if you’re eating by groups. I really think this is really a must-try!

By the way, they also serve FREE rice tea on the house (cold or hot just ask. I really like rice tea!).

Itadakimasu! :)

Costing:

  • Budget for two: Php575 or (Php287.50/person if you’re splitting the bill)
    • Kani Salad (Php120)
    • Chicken Teriyaki Don (Php170)
    • Extra Gohan (Php25)
    • Jurassic Maki (Php260)
    • FREE house tea

Rockeoke! Be a Rockstar on Monday Nights!

Recently, my teammates and I (with our very lovable manager) had a monday night out teambuilding at mag:net Cafe Bonifacio High Street
So what's the agenda? The usual, we had a decent dinner bonding time. BUT why on a MONDAY NIGHT?! Simply because we were there for something special that only happens on a Monday Night! We were there for ROCKEOKE!

So what is Rockeoke?
Rockeoke is like karaoke, but it's live! You get a chance to sing on-stage with a live band playing for you, and a live audience cheering for you! Don't worry you don't have to be talented at it. Remember this is just for fun! Your role is to sing your heart out and show the crowd the spirit of being a rockstar! Yes! It is your chance to be a rockstar for a night!

The Mechanics
1. You go there (entrance is free!). I suggest you make a reservation for sure seats. (Contact Details below) It gets pretty crowded.

2.Then just pay for your food and drinks (around Php200 on the average for food and Php100 on drinks depending on what kind).

3. Bring your friends! It is definitely an experience worth sharing with them.

4. They have a list of songs which you can choose from (placed on each table).

5. Simply select from the list, write your name and song of choice in a piece of paper or on a tissue (which we did) then just give it to the host.

6. NOTE: You can sing solo, duets or by groups. They have three mics you can use.

7. Rockeoke starts at 10pm.

8. Cross your fingers and hope that your name and song gets chosen. The choices and request orders for the songs are arranged by the production team/host. Also, not all requests are chosen... So if you really want to make sure your song gets chosen for a special reason (like you want to sing to someone) then PLEASE make sure you talk to the host! Don't be shy!

Costing:
1. Food and Drinks (please click link for their menu) - Approximately Php300/person.
2. Rockeoke and Entrance - FREE!
3. Experience and Entertainment - FREE and Priceless!

So if you're looking for a low-cost but high quality teambuilding or bonding experience, this is something you must really try!

Wouldn't it be so cool to be a rockstar for a night, or be rockstar duets with your someone special, or maybe to serenade someone on stage, or maybe just for the love of good company with your best buds on a Monday night?!

Introducing... Little Miss Chinay

Hi there! :) Welcome to my new blog! I haven't really blogged for quite some time now, so pardon me if I am quite rusty at this :D

Okay so here goes... What I hope to become of this blog is for it to become a haven of relevant information/details.

I'll try to dabble on stuff about food, dining, places to go, a little bit on music, know-hows, travel, and just about anything else which I might find useful, helpful and interesting for me which in turn I hope will be for you too! (I really hope so! *wink*).

WHY? Because, oftentimes, before I try going somewhere to hang out with my friends, to eat/dine, to buy something, to relax, or whatever it may be, I first try to google it and find out more relevant details before doing so.

UNFORTUNATELY, most sites fail my expectation in this area when it comes to stuff about the Philippines. There is usually a lack of details like the costings/prices/budget (VERY important) or pictures, directions, etc.

That is why I decided to start blogging more about stuff like that! I am no expert, but I hope that what I can share will really become relevant for you. Well... I really hope so *wink*.

I don't know about you, but I often commute (in the Philippines) because I don't have a car, and I am always on a low-cost budget (due to recession), but I don't want that to stop me from enjoying the simple pleasures of life with my friends and loved ones (with a budget of course *wink*). AND that's what I hope to share with you soon! REAL soon! :)

OH if you're wondering why this blog is entitled "Little Miss Chinay?" It is because I'm a little miss "Chinese-Filipina" who is proud of my identity and mixed culture, and who just wants to enjoy life with a practical budget. ;)

I hope you'll find this blog practically relevant and interesting! Enjoy!

P.S.
Feel free to share your comments, suggestions, opinions and your own personal experiences! Thanks! :)
